DEPARTMENT OF SURGERY
INTRODUCTION
The department is the highest-level surgical care facility in the Transdanubian region. We have 4,200 inpatient and 30,000 outpatients every year. The department has facilities for all profiles of the surgical profession: general surgery, thoracic surgery, plastic and burn surgery, transplant surgery. Our areas within general surgery are laparoscopic surgery, gastroesophageal surgery, liver surgery, endocrinological surgery, pancreatic surgery.
The department operates with 5 units, 25 doctors, 90 beds, 4 operating theatres, and 6 outpatient services.
We have all facilities required for clinical trials. Several of our employees have Good Clinical Practice (GCP) qualification and clinical trial experience. Many examining rooms are available for our inpatients and outpatients.
Large-capacity refrigerators, freezers and centrifuges are available for storing and preparing samples. Sample treatment which requires a special procedure can be carried out in collaboration with the Institute of Laboratory Medicine. The documentation is securely stored and archived in a separate, lockable room.
Patient data of clinical trials from previous years are available: liver surgery, kidney transplant, complicated abdominal infection.
